You can sign up for the 2012 project using the JOIN IN Form immediately. New applicants are required to audition. Special conditions as indicated at the bottom of this form apply for former Swiss Gospel Choir members. Closing date ist the 31.1.2012.

PRECONDITIONS AND CRITERIA FOR PARTIZIPATION
You serve as a key voice in your home choir/ensemble and you enjoy gospel music actively. Your well-developed musical ear allows you to navigate through demanding, sophisticated musical landscapes. You are aware of the fact that in gospel music - unlike in classical singing - notes are bent and tugged at, and you have mastered that technique. You move naturally to the groove, and you have no difficulties performing easy choreography while singing. You come across positive and merry, and your thinking is flexible. You view schedule changes as exciting challenges rather than nuisances. You identify with the Christian message of our music.

Your age does not matter. Children and adolescents under 18 years of age are required to hand in their parents’ written consent for the whole project. All participants should consider the strains of a concert tour abroad. 

We place great emphasis on creating ideal conditions for our voices to bear the strain of singing gospel music, and we are well aware that this project is viewed as a national role model. The Swiss Gospel Choir represents Switzerland abroad and aims at conveying basic Christian values and views in a likable manner. During all group activities we refrain from smoking.

COST
All management and touring cost is basically borne by the choir members. However, we are trying hard to find sponsors to help ease this burden. Participating in the 2010 project will cost you CHF 1300 (including travel and accommodation and rehearsals in Switzerland). Partners of choir members are welcome to join. The cost is about CHF 1000. Arrangements for children are subject to individual discussion.

AUDITION PROCEDURE
Choose two of the following three songs to sing at the audition. If you choose a different song, it has to differ in style from the official song. So, if you choose "Amazing grace", your own song should not be a ballad, too.
 

You will sing a capella (i.e. without any accompaniment) and by heart (i.e. without any music or text sheets). Do not bring any playback CDs or tapes. We will do a few vocals exercises at the piano.

At the auditions, we will form groups of singers that will spend 2 hours together. Please contact us if you would either like to be in the same group as another singer, or if you don’t hear from us within 3 days of your enrolment. You will be given your exact audition time and date in January 2012. 

YES OR NO / COST
You will recieve your YES or NO by e-mail by 5th March 2012 at the latest. If you've been accepted, you are a member of the Swiss Gospel Choir for the period of time covered by 2012 project. Your membership is validated by your payment of a basic fee of CHF 300. This fee will later be fully subtracted from your tour fee. Your payment of the basic fee will be due within 7 days from your beeing accepted. After that your membership will not be valid. If you choose to leave the project at a later point in time, the basic fee will not be refunded.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR FORMER SWISS GOSPEL CHOIR MEMBERS
Please sign up normally on JOIN IN. By doing so, you accept the above agreements on the 2012 project. For an unlimited period accepted singers of the SGC-pool are automatically registered. All others will then receive a personal feedback mail containing decisions and recommendations.
